Meet Beth
Beth Peterkin has an extensive background in not-for-profit governance, fund development and office administration with a strong interest in community sustainability. She has an Economics degree from Carleton University, Ottawa and has completed numerous post-degree business courses including business management and the development of policies and procedures.
Prior to moving to the Bay of Fundy area in Nova Scotia in 2016, Beth worked as the Executive Director in the field of restorative justice in Ontario. She also served seven years as a municipal Councillor in Perth, Ontario and was instrumental in providing leadership to other members of Council in the areas of culture, recreation, and the environment. She has volunteered on several not-for-profit Boards of Directors throughout her career and has organized numerous community events, fundraisers, and regional and national conferences.
Beth believes in getting results and uses creative, innovative thinking in the development of short- and long-term plans. She uses her leadership and communication skills to bring community partners together in problem-solving. These relationship-building skills have resulted in developing strong collaborations over the years.
She has previously served on the Boards of Directors of the Canadian Chamber Choir, The Rideau Heritage Route and Festival and Events Ontario. Currently, she volunteers with the Parrsboro Band Association and the Ship’s Company Theatre.
Beth has recently been awarded the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Medal, presented by the Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia, and feels extremely honoured by this recognition.
